Earth Day

Earth Day

Although agriculture contributes to the conservation of the rural environment and nature, the use of intensive methods brings new problems, which affect the environment.

The uncontrolled use of fertilizers can have a negative environmental impact. Its excessive or inappropriate use, as in the case of nitrogenous substances, can contribute to nitrogen contamination of groundwater, affecting fauna and humans. Furthermore, the lack of organic fertilization and the use of fertilizers with high chloride content or of poor quality increases the loss of fertility and the risk of desertification of our soils.

At Adler Agro we work for a modernization of fertilization methods, making it more rational, effective and appropriate to each crop and conditions. Taking care of our soils and crops is taking care of our environment.

Happy Earth Day.

Youth and agriculture

Youth and agriculture

Although the food industry has an 8% weight in the Spanish GDP, and this same sector employs about 2 million people, the figure of the professional farmer is not as defended as it is in other countries.

We are in an era of change, new challenges and search for alternatives to conventional routes, and in a country where youth unemployment rate is around 50%. Some of these young people come from families of farmers. Families who did not want their children to follow in the family business because «not profitable» or «no future». However, agriculture is a real economy. It is a strategic sector for other countries, but in Spain we still do not care for the things we eat every day.

For young people who decide to pursue a profession vocation in the food industry it is much harder to achieve success. The main problems are with funding for all the necessary, and the lack of counseling, access to land, etc.

It is true that are expanding aid and have facilitated the access roads to the sector, but the variable price in the market becomes problematic. Because the product offered is perishable, farmers need distributors who pay the minimum price for 200% upload to the final consumer. We are going to park this theme not deviate so far from the main plot: The agricultural sector and youth.

There are studies that predict that in 8-10 years, the profession of farmer will be most in demand. Assuming that agriculture is not an office use, young people must take to the field an improvement. These improvements can be understood in many ways. Agriculture can be a very innovative sector: New technologies in machinery, new varieties of improved seeds, more ecological fertilizer and powerful… And all this with a good promotion and communication can be achieved.

So, from Adler Agro, we support this initiative in the sector and offer our products and advice to all those who want to start in this world.

Robotic Agriculture

Robotic Agriculture

Robotic Agriculture

Let's start by defining what the word robot means, which, in so many cases, scares and attracts us at the same time. The term comes from the Czech word robota, which means 'compulsory work'. It is still a product that has its functions defined 100% and that cannot change the destination of its use by itself.

From the parking machines to the refrigerators that we have at home, we have a wide range of electronic devices that in many cases solve our day-to-day work, but in many others we can see it as an attack on the manual work of people who they could be occupying the position of the machine.

The purpose of this post is not to create controversy, but to talk a little about advances in agriculture, which can seem fascinating and innovative. The first revolution was already seen in this sector when, thanks to animals, and the elemental use of water and wind, we put aside the roughest work. After this came steam engines, engines, tractors ... In short, they were appliances, let's call them that, that increased production and reduced labor, that is, they increased the general yield of the crop.

Well here comes the news, drones. Yes, drones that will allow spraying herbicides at more or less 200 m2 / h. This is being done by the robotics company DJI. These new "air farmers" will be autonomous and will return to their base to load both spray material and batteries, and thus organize themselves among their squad partners, areas and work times.

All this, which in turn is going to provide the farmer, is information in real time on his crop, at a photographic and / or video level, on the state of the plant material, the land or the irrigation systems. Therefore, now the question is, are we facing a new industrial revolution?
